City Council approved the extension for the carriage companies to have an extra hour each day in April, 2011. So far most of the downtown residents we have spoken with are very upset with this “compromise” in which they were not involved.
Downtown Robberies

Charleston Police have reported two incidents that occurred over the past couple of days.
On 4-18-10 at approximately 2:00 am, a strong armed robbery occurred near 26 Montagu Street where two W/Ms robbed an individual.
Then on 4-20-10 at approximately 11:50 pm there was an armed robbery outside of 38 Bull Street and two B/Ms on bicycles robbed an individual at gunpoint.
The police are taking these incidents very seriously and will be aggressively following up with additional patrols and special operational plans.
Harleston Village residents are advised to be on the lookout for anything suspicious and to immediately call the police department so they can follow up.
